Hoan Dang


Hoan Dang (Han-Hoan Duc Dang) is an elected member of the Maryland State Democratic Central Committee and he was a candidate for the Maryland House of Delegates in 2010. He has been a community volunteer and civic activist for over 20 years. In 2010, he was appointed to the Washington Suburban Transit Commission, by Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett, where he serves as Secretary-Treasurer. He also serves as a member of the Health Information Exchange Policy Board of the Maryland Health Care Commission, Community Advisor to the Office of the Maryland Attorney General, board member of the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce, and board member of the George B. Thomas, Sr. Learning Academy.

Hoan was also a founding member and past chair of the Asian American Health Initiative, past chair and president of the Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association, and past vice president of IMPACT Silver Spring. He is an Eagle Scout and served as a co-founder and Scoutmaster of the first Vietnamese American Boy Scout Troop in Maryland.

In 2011, Hoan founded Optimum Government Solutions (OGS), a performance management company that helps government clients achieve optimal results by streamlining their processes and reduce waste. Prior to that, he worked in business operations at Lockheed Martin Corporation and as an electronics engineer at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He earned his MBA in Finance and M.S. in Operations Research from the University of Maryland College Park, and a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.

Hoan was born in Saigon, South Vietnam and came to the U.S. with his family in 1975 as Vietnamese refugees when he was eight. He currently resides in Silver Spring, Maryland where he enjoys reading, martial arts, and international travel.
