Trung Ta

Trung Ta is a Principal Engineer and Software Project Manager with Raytheon Company. He has been working for Defense and Aerospace companies for almost 30 years.

Trung is known in the Vietnamese community as an educator, a community leader and a political leader. He has dedicated his time and energy to preserve and promote Vietnamese traditions and languages in Orange County, California. Trung was the Vice-Chairman of Internal Affairs of Hong Bang Vietnamese School, Founding Chairman of theVietnamese Cultural Center, Chairman of Viet Olympiad Giai Khuyen Hoc, Member of the Board of Executives of Lac Hong Vietnamese Traditional Performing Art Group, and President of Binh Thuan Province Friendship Association.

Realizing that the best way to serve the community is to participate in politics, Trung joined the Democratic Party. He became a California State and Orange County Central Committee Member from 2000 - 2008, and in 2007, he formed the Vietnamese American Democratic Club. Trung was theVietnamese American National Co-Chair and AAPI Southern California Co-Chair for Hillary Clinton for President during the primary election. He later became Member of the AAPI Leadership Team for Barrack Obama’s Presidential Campaign. Trung was invited to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver and the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States in Washington D.C. With a clear vision that politics is his passion, and not his ambition, Trung is reaching out and working well with people who have different ideologies but share the same goal: to benefit the Vietnamese community.

Trung came to the United States in 1978 as one of the Boat People and now lives in Huntington Beach, California. He has a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Purdue University. His dream is that one day young Vietnamese Americans will open their hearts and minds to work together to build a strong and respectful Vietnamese community in the United States.
