De Tran

De Tran is currently serving as the President of the Vietnamese Community of Oregon (VNCO). De is the ever youngest president since the establishment of the Vietnamese Community in Oregon. In this role, he’s committed to bring the freshness to the community through teamwork, communication, and more focus on youths and the elders. As many people know, leading the community is not an easy task since the community involves many aspects of life from resources, funding, offices, culture events, political activities, internal relations with various organizations, external relations with businesses and government officials. Despite of those difficulties, De continues to work with many committed and bright individuals in the community to bring the community to the next level. Searching, training and fostering leaders are essential keys to build the Vietnamese community of Oregon.

For the Vietnamese American Leaders Summit 2011 event in Washington DC, De sees this as the best chances to get people in the Vietnamese Community of Oregon to learn from leaders from all over the country what issues communities are facing, effective resolutions and how to lead the community to their best potential. De is committed to open up and lay a foundation in the community for community members to build and lead various parts of the community.

De Tran’s currently the senior software engineer at Jeppesen (a Boeing company) in the Marine division. He is passionate about recreational boats, work boats on river, as well as huge fleets on sea. One day after all communists disappear from Vietnam, De shall be very happy to use what he learn help Vietnam build the marine industry to be strong again.
