Dang Nguyen

Born in South Vietnam, Dang Nguyen was among the first wave of refugees to escape by boats after the collapse of Saigon in 1975.

Dang was a long time resident of New Orleans where he helped found the Thieu Nhi Viet Nam Movement and served as the leader of the New Orleans chapter for many years. Thieu Nhi Viet Nam organized and trained Vietnamese American youths in civic leadership and community service.

Dang served on the staff of Congressman Anh ‘Joseph’ Cao in the US House of Representatives as Projects Directors, specializing on Foreign Affairs and human rights issues.

Dang is an original member of Hong Bang, Inc., a non-governmental organization which mainly focuses on refugee relief service and rural development.

Shortly after hurricane Katrina, Dang with his wife and two children have adopted Severna Park, Maryland, as their new hometown.
