Thuy-Anh Le

 

Thuy-Anh Le is a self-identified 1.5 Vietnamese-American who graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Ethnic Studies with an emphasis on Community Public Health from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Thuy-Anh’s experiences demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship, education, research, and community building.  She has a commitment to engaging and expanding opportunities for institutional access and success for culturally and traditionally underrepresented communities of color.

Thuy-Anh has local and international research experience and training through UCLA’s Travel Study Program in community-based research and fieldwork in Asian American Studies at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. Internationally, she studied and did research in Public Health at the University of London, Queen Mary. She participated in International Honors Program through the School of International Training (SIT) in comparative research in community health studies in Washington D.C., South Africa, Vietnam and Brazil. In which she examined comparative research on war, violence and its consequences of traumatic memory and displacement in those three countries. In addition, she is as a UCSD-Mcnair Scholar in Critical Refugee Studies and the Vietnamese Diaspora.

In her professional experience, Thuy-Anh engages in her community as a community organizer and outreach liaison. She is a part of the 500 Oral Histories Project with the Vietnamese-American Heritage Foundation (VAHF). Thuy-Anh works at Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI), a nonprofit health agency serving the Santa Clara County, at the Center for Addiction Recovery & Empowerment (CARE).

Thuy-Anh plans to work in nonprofit for a few years and intends to purse graduate school in order to integrate and intertwine her professional work in the community with critical inquiry.
